On Text Mate...

cross posted from http://jeffcroft.com/blog/archives/2005/07/which_gui_os_x.php

I am definitely +1 for TextMate and think that it is a great option despite lack of true hinting or FTP integration. Here's why:

  • There are many a great integrated FTP program for OS X. Transmit may be the king of the hill, but Fugu and Cyber Duck are free and more than enough for most of us.
  • Bundles are superior to code hinting. They create code faster, allow for less keystrokes and are completely extensible. I really missed code hinting when I first switched over to TM. However, it has forced me to learn much faster and write code quicker. If you get stuck, start typing and hit "escape" until the right rule comes up. If it doesn't, hit the books.

It is September again and I am back to school again. Presently I am "killing" time in class. I know that you maybe thinking that I'm slacking off already, but I think that I am actually being efficient as my prof is explaining how a camera works.

The lat bit of summer (aka "the computer-less time") was relaxing for the most part, although my car breaking down the night before taking a 2500 km trip to the Gorge and Oregon was a bit un-nerving. Osoyoos was relaxing and I finally was able to just sit around, tan, drink, read and play. Hopefully I'll get the time to knock off a few book reviews of what I read.

The most human prayer

07 Jun 2005

I found this quote to be a strength the other day. I just thought that I would quickly share it:

The experience of losing your faith, or of having lost it, is an experience that in the long run belongs to faith; or at least it can belong to faith if faith is still valuable to you, and it must be or you would not have written me about this. I don't know how the kind of faith required of a Christian living in the 20th century can be at all if it is not grounded on this experience that you are having right now of unbelief. "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief" is the most natural and most human and most agonizing prayer in the gospels, and I think it is the foundation prayer of faith.

After over 2 years and 100 entries at the old Time Being site on Blogger, I finally made the plunge and paid for hosting and moved over to WordPress. Expect great stuff in the future. Actually, don't, but just maybe things will be a bit better here.

PS - because of the import, all comments and lot of little things got messed up. I'm going to see what I can do to fix all of that...
